Sembang Kereta : Proton Exora MC2 2015

Akhirnya MPV mampu milik paling digemari ramai, Proton Exora kembali dengan Minor Change 2 (MC2) model. Khabarnya akan dilancarkan hari Khamis ini. Yang paling menarik minat ramai ialah Proton Exora 2015 ini ditambah baik dengan ESC (electronic stability control) dan 4 beg udara. 

Kedua ciri penting ini tidak terdapat pada model terdahulu. Lampu kabus juga diganti dengan LED dan terdapat DRL ring pada lampu kabus tersebut. Agak unik di situ kerana pertama kali Proton menggunakan DRL berbentuk bulat. 

Harga belum dapat dipastikan. Saya sendiri telah melihat semalam beberapa buah treler keluar dari kilang proton Shah Alam untuk menghantar Exora baru ini ke showroom di seluruh negara. Apa pun, ini satu perkembangan menarik buat mereka yang sedang mencari MPV untuk keluarga. Apatah lagi sesuai buat mereka yang sedang "membesarkan" keluarga dan ini adalah antara MPV selesa yang mampu dimiliki. Good Luck Proton.

UPDATE :
Info dari sahabat-sahabat mengatakan ia Exora MC2 ini mempunyai spec yang sama dengan Exora GXR Australia, bezanya cuma pada warna baru Luxury Blue & Indiana Grey serta lampu rear combi baru. Aloi rim 10 spoke juga merupakan design baru untuk model ini. Khabarnya 2nd row seat boleh sliding sama seperti Australia spec.

Perodua Alza Advance Edition Diperbaharui - RM69,503

PERODUA telah melancarkan model MPV mereka Alza Advance Edition yang diberi penambah-baikan berbanding sebelum ini. Dari sudut luaran, ia masih mengekalkan body-kit yang sama seperti sebelum ini. Namun, bahagian interior diberi nafas baru dengan paparan multimedia unit skrin sesentuh dengan integrasi GPS/Navigation. Ini merupakan "carry over" aksesori dari model Myvi yang terbaru. Proton Exora Bold Test Drive Review (compilation)

Jujur aku katakan, aku masih teruja dengan Proton Exora Bold. Sampai menjejakkan kaki ke bilik pameran pada hari Sabtu lepas. Melihat gambar-gambar pada brochure saja sudah tentu tidak dapat memuaskan hati. Jadi kena pergi melihat sendiri secara "live" baru dapat feel. Tetapi agak malang sedikit kerana tidak berkesempatan nak test drive secara peribadi sebab masa tak mengizinkan. Kalau tidak pasti sudah boleh buat perbandingan dengan Exora CPS (sebab sudah biasa sangat pandu Exora 1st batch - pre Exora MC)

Bukannya excited nak memiliki MPV ini pun. Bukan. Keluarga aku kecil, rasanya masih belum sesuai untuk memiliki sebuah MPV sebesar ini. Tetapi sebagai seorang peminat automotif sudah pasti aku excited bila PROTON dapat mengeluarkan enjin Campro CFE ini. Yes, faktor CFE ini benar-benar menarik minat aku untuk test drive Exora Bold ini.

Proton sure has a winner in the MPV segment. For a 1.6L MPV, this is one of the most powerful and has the most torque, when comparing against local favourites, including the Perodua Alza, Nissan Grand Livina and the Toyota Innova. There are only 2 setbacks that I foresee. One is Proton’s brand image. Due to Proton’s past, not many people would want to consider a Proton as a new car, but recent offerings from Proton seems to have changed that a lot, and hopefully the Exora Bold can do that. The second is that the reliability of the turbo system. I dare not say how reliable the turbo system fitted into the Exora Bold would be, but if their engineers has done their homework properly, it should last up to 150,000km with little fuss. There isn't a need to scroll down the article to find out how the Exora Bold has been summed up. In a nutshell, in a sense, the updated Exora is what people (carrier) love the most. It is spacious for 5 adults, plus 2 more can be seated in the 3rd row without major complaints. The storage space is abundance. Practicality is second to none at this price. Driving it is a breeze. It feels very car like, with none of van-like kind of blind spot and cumbersome dynamics. However, it now comes with fangs. No more sluggish mid-range engine speed. It can be easily hustled to merge with faster traffic seamlessly. In a phrase, Proton Exora Bold Premium is now a complete MPV. Period. Check out the driving impression down the articles.

At RM79,998, it is very hard to find a rival worth mentioning. The packaged of spacious interior, full supply of aircond in the cabin, good handling, well-suppressed NVH and a very well-equipped cabin amenities makes the Exora Bold punched well above its price. With the new, more powerful heart, Proton has makes the other competitors (Perodua Alza, Toyota Avanza and Innova, Nissan Grand Livina) appear half-bake. ACCELERATION WAS ZOMG! Not Caldina 2.0 GT-Four awesome, but for a 1.6L Campro renown for having an affair with high-end HP and forgetting its torque at home, this certainly makes you rewrite your good books bout the campro engine. Low end torque generously rushed in at a low 2k RPM and the car just kept on accelerating forward like it was a Persona. Driving position felt very sedan like except for the high POV, and having generous amount of space in the cabin extends credibility to its size advantage compared to other MPV. The car accelerates out of corners and traffic light stops at a nice good pace (faster than PE) all the while just maintaining engine speed at between 2k-2.3k RPM. The engine only kicks into higher rev when u push it hard, however high-end power seems a bit lacking as the acceleration is not so willing towards the high-end range when your engine speed goes beyond 5k RPM boundaries. It seems like the turbo was suffering from lack of breath and the car felt like it was sprinting compared to jogging when the power band used was between 2-4k RPM. This is a feeling similar to Evo III engines with TD04 turbines , the power just runs out when the RPM goes into drag racing 5k-6.5k RPM range. No matter how hard I pushed the car I wasn’t able to get it to 6k RPM. Weird. Highest ever was 5.5k RPM and it stayed there. At one point of exiting the highway I took a sweeping near 360˚ roundabout at around 90km/h. Now that speed is nothing to shout about, but do that in an MPV taller than most Asians, trust me, my mom was screaming and the SA at the back never appreciated her life more before that turn. Personally that same corner a Veilfire would have lost out in stability and grip as the tires on the Veilfire was screeching like cats in hot soup when speed was just touching 80kmh. My 2cents : Bahagian Marketing PROTON, Please Take Note

Kemunculan PROTON Exora Bold & Exora Prime benar-benar mendapat sambutan ramai peminat automotif, terutamanya mereka yang ingin memiliki sebuah MPV. Apatah lagi kali ini PROTON menawarkan buat pertama kalinya sebuah enjin yang diperbaharui dengan teknologi "forced induction" dalam model keluarannya. Atau dalam bahasa mudah, sebuah enjin "turbo".

Respon yang aku dapati daripada laman blog, serta forum-forum maya ialah majoriti berpuas hati dengan prestasi enjin Campro CFE, dan suka dengan facelift yang dilakukan kepada model Exora Bold/Prime. Boleh dikatakan, semua yang sudah pandu uji Proton Exora Bold sejak semalam bersetuju yang MPV ini tidak lagi "underpowered" malah ada yang sudah membandingkan dengan model-model lain yang lebih hebat dari segi segmen dan harga. Aku sendiri sudah pergi ke showroom Edar, dan melihat sendiri Exora Bold. Malangnya tak sempat nak pandu uji kerana kena queue. Sudah ada beberapa temujanji untuk pandu uji Exora pagi tadi. Tetapi aku pasti akan pandu uji dalam masa terdekat nanti.

Ok kembali kepada topik asal. 

Aku agak musykil dengan bahagian marketing PROTON. Kenapa produk sebaik Exora Bold dan keupayaan enjin Campro CFE ini tidak diberi publisiti yang meluas? Seolah-olah tiada berita tentang pelancaran model baru dari PROTON. Sehinggakan ada yang tidak tahu lansung tentang kemunculan Exora Bold. Terutamanya mereka-mereka yang jarang melayari internet. Setakat hari ini, aku rasa tiada iklan di TV dan di radio. Cuma apa yang aku perhatikan, hanya laman-laman blog yang berlumba-lumba menyiarkan entry mengenai model ini. Mohon diadakan TV Advert untuk PROTON Exora Bold ini, kerana model ini berpotensi untuk menjadi pilihan utama MPV keluarga di Malaysia tahun 2012 nanti. Kalau sudah ada nanti, tolong highlightkan sedikit kehebatan enjin baru CFE tersebut. Di sini saya dapat lihat perbezaan antara PROTON dan PERODUA. Sebab PERODUA, walaupun hanya buat facelift tukar bumper pada model VIVA Elite, namun publisitinya meluas. Iklan TV sentiasa ada terutamanya waktu perdana (8pm - 9pm). Setuju?

Kedua-dua ini adalah dari model yang sama, iaitu Proton Exora Prime. Difahamkan gambar ini dirakam di Pusat Kecemerlangan PROTON di KESAS. Sana ada dipamerkan PROTON Exora Prime. Cuba lihat, betapa ketaranya perbezaan gambar rasmi dari PROTON dengan gambar yang dirakam. Kenapa aku bangkitkan hal ini? kerana ramai tidak berpuas hati bila melihat gambar rasmi tersebut. Faux wood panel dalam gambar rasmi itu nampak terlalu "murah" dan tidak matching dengan interior Exora. Tetapi, apabila melihat gambar sebenar, ramai menarik balik komen negatif dan minat pula dengan kemasan tersebut. First impression adalah penting. Perbezaan sangat ketara seperti ini boleh memberi impak kepada persepsi orang ramai. Walaupun ia mungkin perkara remeh bagi sesetengah orang, tetapi dalam usaha PROTON menaikkan kembali kepercayaan orang, hal seperti ini perlu diambil berat.

Apa-apa pun, ini sekadar teguran 2 sen dari seorang peminat produk automotif tempatan. Kalau ada tersilap fakta, tolong maafkan. Harapan aku cuma nak tengok PROTON maju dan dapat mengembalikan kepercayaan rakyat Malaysia sendiri seperti era kegemilangan WIRA dan WAJA. Barulah PROTON mampu untuk menapak lebih jauh lagi ke pasaran global. Apatah lagi bila model keluarannya selepas ini diberi jolokan "Proton's first global car".

Hype menantikan kemunculan Exora Facelift dan enjin terkini dari PROTON iaitu Campro CFE (charged fuel efficient) makin menjadi-jadi. Blogger Kizz Kazz (juga merupakan seorang pemilik Proton Exora) ada upload beberapa slide yang memberikan maklumat mengenai prestasi enjin Campro CFE ini. Barangkali ianya training material untuk wakil Proton Edar menjelang pelancaran model Exora Bold & Prime tak lama lagi.

Slide 1 : Performance CFE. Nampaknya benar info yang kita dapat sebelum ini. Maks Torque ialah 205Nm pada 2000rpm-4000rpm. Maknanya pulling power dapat dijana pada rpm yang rendah. Jadi acceleration akan jauh lebih baik daripada Exora dengan enjin CPS sebelum ini dengan improvement sebanyak 50%. Lebih gempak lagi apabila CFE mempunyai low speed torque yang 18% lebih baik daripada enjin 1.8L naturally aspirated (NA)

Slide 2 : Engine comparison. (ceh itu pun boleh typo pada slide..apa daa). Sekali pandang memang jauh lebih baik daripada 1.6L CPS, 1.8L Nissan Grand Livina, serta 2.0L Toyota Innova. Fuel consumption dicatatkan sebanyak 8.3L/100km. Tapi ini mungkin subjektif, sebab pengalaman aku dengan SAGA dan Exora sebelum ini ada kalanya boleh mendapat figure lebih baik daripada yang tercatat di brochure. It depends on our driving pattern.

So apa komen korang? Aku tak sabar nak tengok Exora Facelif a.k.a Exora Bold dan Exora Prime ni di showroom berdekatan. Sebab aku tak yakin gambar-gambar yang leaked sebelum ini menggambarkan keadaan sebenar kereta tersebut. Kena tengok depan mata baru berani nak komen.

New PROTON Exora Bold with Turbocharged Engine Coming Very Soon!

Well, well, well. PROTON nampaknya akan menghangatkan lagi industri automotif dalam masa terdekat ini apabila lori trailer membawa unit-unit Test Drive model varian baru PROTON Exora Bold sudah dilihat berada di atas jalanraya. Sebelum ini aku ada tulis entry mengenai line-up model PROTON akan datang, dan memang ada disebut tentang Exora Bold & Prime. Apakah mungkin PROTON Exora Bold akan dilancarkan lebih awal daripada dijangkakan? (sebelum ini target Januari 2012).

Apakah yang special sangat pada PROTON Exora Bold ini? Well, dari sumber-sumber blog & sumber yang boleh dipercayai, antara penambahbaikan yang ada pada model ini ialah;
1. Enjin Campro CFE (138hp 205Nm tork antara 2000~4000rpm) - light Turbocharged engine
2. Transmisi CVT 6 gear
3. Reverse camera (tak pasti view di backview mirror ataupun di I.C.E unit)
4. Rim 16' dengan 5 twin spoke baru
5. Disc Brake depan & belakang (sebelum ini rear Drum brake)
6. Warna baru (seperti dalam gambar)
7. Bumper depan & belakang baru
8. Smoked headlamp & rear combi lights
9. Finishing color baru untuk interior
10. Meter combi baru (sesuai dengan penambahan kuasa enjin)
11. Auto flip side mirror

Setakat ini masih belum ada pengumuman rasmi mengenai harga model ini. Tapi ura-ura ada mengatakan penambahan lebih kurang RM6-7ribu daripada model yang ada sekarang. Ini mungkin value for money dengan pelbagai upgrade terutamanya di bahagian powertrain yang sangat diidam-idamkan.

Apa pun, kita nantikan lagi kejutan-kejutan seterusnya dari PROTON. Kalau ada kesempatan nak juga test drive model Exora Bold ini disamping SAGA FLX SE yang baru dilancarkan lepas tu boleh buat review sikit.

Latest Offering from Perodua : ALZA

I visited the nearby Perodua showroom to see the latest addition in their product line-up; the Perodua Alza. Basicly everyone (who surfs the net) knows that Perodua will carry over the model from their major share holder company, Toyota/Daihatsu which is the Toyota Passo Sette. Suprisingly Perodua also wants to have a go at MPV segment right after Proton announced that they are developing their own MPV back in 2007 (if I'm not misaken).

Anyway, it was no suprise that the showroom was packed with people interested to see what Perodua will offer in the new model. No suprise on the exterior. Difference between the Toyota Passo Sette and Perodua Alza are the Front and Rear Bumpers, Radiator Grill and the Projector Headlamps. Some says that this Alza look is better that the Passo Sette, but I personally don't agree with that. The Alza's design is so similar to the Myvi (frontal) and Viva (rear). It feels boring to look at the car many times.

Interior wise, also not much different from Passo Sette. Meter cluster is located at center (which I can't help but feeling awkward - reason for not buying Vios), the gear lever (AT version) is up on the dashboard, while there is a foot brake (AT version) which provide better leg room for the front seats. By the way, the driver seat is extended to the passenger seat, making it a bench like seating. However it's still a two seater while the center portion can be folded as an arm rest. There's audio control on the steering too. Similar to the Proton Exora, bluetooth audio function is available for the premium version.

2nd row seats legroom is OK (similar to Myvi's) but 3rd row seats is a NO for me unless the 2nd row is pushed further front. The entry to 3rd row is quite cramped, not suitable for adults (over 170cm). Luggage space is too damn small. I wonder how Perodua can claim that this is the car for "Balik Kampung", there's no space for luggage! The area depth is just about the same of an A4 paper width, which is just about 30cm.

Colorwise, there's a new color besides 5 other carry over colors from Myvi. The new color is called Classy Purple which we used to see on the Proton Persona. (same as Blueberry Tea). In my opinion, this car looks good in bright colors; which to me the best color is Pearl White. It will give the car bigger look, plus the fact that white color is the trend nowadays.

All in all, my summary of the Perodua Alza:

What I like:
1. A new car, fresh model
2. Compact, easy for city driving
3. Nice headlamp
4. Proven engine from Toyota/Daihatsu
5. Front seat legroom
6. Head unit/Radio design
7. Build quality - inherited from Toyota/Daihatsu DNA

What I don't like:
1. Center position meter cluster
2. No luggage space!
3. No 3rd row aircond
4. Difficult entry to 3rd row



Personally, I'm not into this kind of segment yet, so I have no plans on buying any MPV in the near future. This is just my personal view of the car (as an automotive fan). No hard feelings ya!
