Suspek ditahan, Kepala ditemui, Motif masih dicari

KUALA LUMPUR: A man being sought in connection with the brutal murder of four people in Negri Sembilan attacked an auxiliary policeman with a knife when the policemen recognised him near an LRT station here.

The auxiliary policeman, who had a photograph of the suspect, had realised that the man matched the description and had approached the suspect near an overhead bridge at the Masjid Jamek LRT station.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and slashed him.

According to the Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC II Datuk Ku Chin Wah, the auxiliary policeman suffered a minor cut on his hand.

“However, the policeman managed to overpower the suspect before apprehending and handing him over to the police,” he said.

The suspect was arrested at 4.05pm yesterday.

Later, police took him to the Section 21 Muslim cemetery in Shah Alam at 9.45pm because the suspect was believed to have dumped a head there.

The forensics team arrived at 11.35pm and conducted their search with the suspect who had been put into a straightjacket.

At 12.50am, the search team recovered a head which was believed to be linked to the gruesome murders.

Shah Alam deputy OCPD Supt M. Chandrasehkaran said the head, believed to a male’s, was found in a plastic bag which was buried 60cm deep.

The head will be sent to a hospital in Negeri Sembilan for post mortem.

Meanwhile, in Tampin, state OCCI ACP Zaki Masroh said a police team from here had been sent to Kuala Lumpur to bring the suspect back.

Atan Daud 90, Sofiah Katas, 80, Ismail Awang 76 and Siti Khatijah Ismail 22, were found murdered at Kg Batang Rokan in Gemecheh, on Tuesday.

Ismail was decapitated while the other victims were found with various slash wounds and also had their limbs severed in the attack. Siti Khatijah had a knife in her back.

Zaki said police also found a motorcycle belonging to Ismail near Taman Gunung Mas, about 25km from the village, at 2am yesterday.

The suspect had apparently fled the crime scene on the motorcycle and boarded a bus to Kuala Lumpur.
