11 Maut Kemalangan Dekat Simpang Empat

Just before rancangan mengarut di TV3 tadi aku perasan kat timeline ada member tweet yang dia sangkut dalam kesesakan di arah selatan PLUS Highway. Ada eksiden melibatkan 2 buah bas ekspress (lagi-lagi bas!). Dia siap mention nampak mayat bergelimpangan atas jalan.

Checked online papers dan rasanya tadi buletin utama sempat update terkini yang memang betul-betul berlaku kemalangan berhampiran Pedas Linggi/Simpang Ampat. Based on info 10 maut dalam kemalangan tersebut.

This could be another tragedi melibatkan bas ekspress. Aku agak bas itu tentu laju and went out of control. (hmm fact is most of the buses kat Malaysia ni memang tak reti pandu ikut had laju, kan?). Waiting for more info on the news. Hopefully tidak melibatkan lebih ramai nyawa.

Update 11pm : 12 Maut, lebih 40 cedera! Ada beberapa tweet dari rakan-rakan yang stuck dalam kesesakan teruk gila. Quote dari Mstar Online :

REMBAU: Seramai 12 orang maut dan lebih 40 lagi cedera dalam satu kemalangan membabitkan dua bas, sebuah van dan tiga kereta di Kilometer 223, Lebuh Raya Utara-Selatan berhampiran plaza tol Simpang Ampat di sini petang Ahad.

Polis berkata kejadian berlaku pada kira-kira 6.40 petang apabila sebuah bas ekspres yang menuju ke Kuala Lumpur, gagal dikawal lalu melambung dan memasuki laluan bertentangan.

Drive carefully guys. Even if we drive careful enough, please be aware of our surroundings. Tak boleh jangka bila bas pun boleh terbabas ke opposite lane. Errghhh can't imagine. Malang surely tak berbau. To those stuck in the traffic jam, please be patient. Biar lambat asal selamat.

UPDATE : Gas Explosion in AEON Jusco Melaka!

Latest update on the explosion that happened at AEON Jusco Mall in Bachang. The number of injuries was 16 while killing 1 worker.

The much anticipated grand opening of the largest AEON Jusco mall in the country here in Jalan Legenda in Bachang this Dec 17 is likely to be postponed following a fatal gas explosion that killed a 25-year-old supervisor while injuring 16 others on Monday.

The explosion was said to have happened at the food court section located on ground floor of the three-storey complex just before 1pm when workers and tenants were busy making final preparation for the opening.

The force of the blast blew a 2m hole in the building’s sidewall while showering glass and debris over a 25m radius before starting a small fire.

Firemen from the Kubu fire and rescue station, who arrived on the scene six minutes after receiving a distress call at 12.59pm, immediately put out a small fire and found two injured victims lying outside the building.

A search and rescue operation was mounted for other victims when it was learned that there were several others missing or trapped under the rubble.

Five victims were later pulled out alive from the rubble while another, Tiau See Peing, 25, a supervisor from Batu Pahat with Old Town White Coffee was found dead with a fatal neck wound cause by flying debris.

State Fire Departments operations deputy director R. Ezhumalai said the blast is believed to have been caused by a leak when workers were testing the gas meters from the centralised Liquid Petroleum Gas system.

“We believe that the explosion was due to a gas leak as victims mentioned the smell of gas shortly before the blast.

“Although there was a small fire, the injuries and damage were caused by the blast and flying debris,” he said when met at the scene here.

Initial investigations, he added, indicated the blast originated from a leak in the gas system near the food court next to the Food & Tea restaurant.

“We are still investigating to determine the exact location of the blast or what may have caused it,” he said, adding that several other victims were earlier rushed to the hospital for treatment.

At press time, seven victims were reported to have suffered serious injuries while three are said to be in critical condition at the Malacca Hospital. Six other victims received outpatient treatment.

Meanwhile, state human resources committee chairman Datuk Yaakub Md Amin said the Department of Occupational Safety and Health has been directed to investigate the blast.

Investigations will focus on whether the contractors had followed safety measures.

“Action will be taken against them if they had not done so, resulting in the explosion,” he said.

He added that it was fortunate that the blast happened before the opening of the shopping complex when there were fewer people around.

Who is Kerenina Sunny Halim?

Kerenina Sunny Halim is Miss Indonesia 2009, where she represented Jakarta. She then represented Indonesia in Miss World 2009 in South Africa. Nina, as she is normally called, claims to have 6 "diplomas" which were acquired through an online home-schooling program that allows students to score themselves. Nina is first US-Indonesian to represent Indonesia in an international beauty contest. Her mother is from the United States and her father is Indonesian.

The fact that she is / was unable to speak the native language of Indonesian (and that the finalists' question had to be translated into English) caused no small stir amongst the ever-excitable media of the world's 4th-most populous nation.

She was born-and-raised in The Family International and is still an active member. She grew up in various countries throughout Asia. She has five siblings and one of them, her older brother, Steve Emmanuel (a well-known sinetron / TV soap opera actor in Indonesia), changed his name to Yusuf Iman after converting to Islam.

The beauty queen admits her link with the cult organization. How will this scandal affect the Miss World competition? I'm sure the image of this Indonesian beauty queen will be tarnished by these claims.

Gas Explosion in AEON Jusco Melaka!

Last week we was shocked with the KB Mall news, and today another accident at a shopping complex is reported. This is the latest newflash. A gas explosion at AEON Jusco Jalan Legenda today killing one and injuring seven others. Details in the news quoted below from The Star newspaper

MALACCA: A worker was killed and seven others injured in a gas explosion at the food court of the Aeon Jusco mall at Jalan Legenda in Bachang here at 1pm on Monday.

The incident happened as workers and tenants were rushing to make final preparations for the shopping mall’s grand opening on Dec 17.

The blast was said to have taken place at the food court section of the mall and tore a 2m hole in the wall, shattering glass and debris over a 25m radius.

The dead man was identified as Tan Kwan Hai, a 25-year-old local. Three other workers are in critical condition with the rest suffering blast wounds.

All the wounded were rushed to the Malacca Hospital for treatment. - THE STAR
