World Cup Fever! Ole Ole Ole : Part 2

In this entry, FTN brings to you the mascots of FIFA World Cup from 1990 until the coming 2010 tournament. There's always a new mascot for each tournament. These mascots represents the host country and a very good way to promote the tournament. Mascot are designed to be colorful, and mostly targeted at children. The first mascot of the World Cup was the 'World Cup Willie', a lion that represents England as the host of 1966 World Cup.

Let's flashback some of the most remembered mascot of the World Cup. I won't go even further than 1990 because I could barely remember anything from the 1986's World Cup. (hehehe)

CIAO
1990 World Cup - venue : ITALY
A stick figure player with a football head and an Italian tricolore body. Its name is an Italian greeting.

STRIKER
1994 World Cup - venue : USA
A dog, wearing a red, white and blue football uniform with the words "USA 94".

FOOTIX
1998 World Cup - venue : FRANCE
A rooster, one of the national symbols of France, with the words "FRANCE 98" on the chest. Its body is mostly blue, like the host's national team shirt and its name is a portmanteau of "football" and the ending "-ix" from the popular Astérix comic strip. Other proposed names were "Raffy", "Houpi" and "Gallik".

ATO, KAZ and NIK
2000 World Cup - venue : JAPAN and SOUTH KOREA
Orange, purple and blue (respectively) futuristic, computer-generated creatures. Collectively members of a team of "Atmoball" (a fictional football-like sport), Ato is the coach while Kaz and Nik are players. The three individual names were selected from shortlists by users on the Internet and at McDonald's outlets in the host countries.

GOLEO
2006 World Cup - venue : GERMANY
A lion wearing a Germany shirt with the number 06 and a talking football named Pille. Goleo is a portmanteau of the words "goal" and "leo", the Latin word for lion. In Germany, "Pille" is a colloquial term for a football.

ZAKUMI
2010 World Cup - venue : SOUTH AFRICA
Zakumi is a leopard with green hair wearing a shirt saying South Africa 2010. Zakumi's green and gold colors represents South African national sports' teams colors. His name comes from "ZA", the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for South Africa, and "kumi", a word that means "ten" in various African languages.

Pimp Your Iphone - With SLR Lenses!

The very first camera phone I used was a Docomo phone, back in Japan. It was among the first handphones with a built-in camera. Back then it had very low megapixels. I'm not sure the exact figure but I was pretty sure less than a-megapixel camera.  However, back then it was a big hit. I often took photos of friends, and make their profile photos so that everyone had their own faces each time a phone call comes in.

But these accessories developed fast from time to time. 6 years have passed since my first camera phone, and I can hardly see any camera phone with resolution less than 2MP. There's already a 12 megapixel camera phone. A Sony Ericsson if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure if it should be call a phone, or a digital camera.

Anyway, I don't want to go further on the megapixel issue (maybe in later posts), I want to share about a guy that 'pimps' his iphone camera; by attaching a SLR lense to the iphone!

Yeap, I couldn't imagine it when reading for the first time. Read for yourself. With photos if you don't believe me. An iphone attached with a 50mm lens! Not sure how it's gonna fit in the pockets!

The Tiger Woods Saga : Meet the Ladies

More details of the alleged Wood's Mistresses. Currently 9 (LATEST!) have been linked with Tiger Woods. Not sure how many more will turn up.

1. Rachel Uchitel, 34 - a New York nightclub VIP hostress

History with Tiger Woods : flown to Australia to be with Tiger during a golf tournament, among other rendezvous.

Proof : She claims to have hundreds of emails and text messages that prove the affair from the past five months. She was reportedly paid between $1 Million and $3 Million by Tiger Woods to keep silent.

2. Jaimee Grubbs, 24 - Cocktail waitress from Los Angeles. Best known for her brief stint on the VH1 reality show "Tool Academy".

History with Tiger Woods : Allegedly had an affair that lasted for 31 months and included around 20 sexual encounters. Reports also said that Grubbs was 21 when she first hooked up with Woods in April 2007.

Proof : Grubbs actually has the documentation to back up her story. She claimed to have kept in her phone more than 300 racy text messages from Tiger. Plus a voicemail from a panicked Tiger Woods, requesting her to remove her name from her voicemail because his wife might be calling soon.

3. Kalika Moquin, 27 - Las Vegas nightclub executive

History with Tiger : Moquin and Woods hooked up "a bunch of times" in Las Vegas during the weekend of October 23rd.

Proof : None as yet.

4. Jamie Jungers, 25 - Las Vegas cocktail waitress and "aspiring model"

History with Tiger Woods : Started her affair with Tiger in the golfer's suburban Orlando home in 2004 when she was 20-years-old.

Proof : Nothing as yet. But a few reports claimed that her fiance is a huge fan of Tiger Woods.

5. Mindy Lawton, 33 - a waitress at the Perkins restaurant near Tiger Wood's Orlando home.

History with Tiger Woods : Lawton describes how Tiger Woods often came to her restaurant. Woods also invited her out for drinks at one of his favourite local bars, The Blue Martini, then told her to meet him at a parking lot near his house in Windermere. That night kicked off a year-long affair with multiple sexual encounters, which often took place in local public parking lots and at Tiger's home. She even told in an interview on how she believed that they were deeply in love, and how she was heartbroken when Woods became more distant and began ignoring her calls.

Proof : No hard evidence

6. Cori Rist, 31 - Described as "Manhattan clubgoer". An inspiring fashion model. A mother of one child.

History with Tiger Woods : Reportedly met Cori Rist, at the Manhattan club Butter last year.

Proof : None as yet.

7. Holly Sampson, 36 - A Pornstar whose film appearances include titles such as Descent Into Bondage and Diary of a Horny Housewife. Her filmography contains 85 titles, mostly pornographic films.

History with Tiger Woods : Not clear as yet, but she is not denying that she bedded Tiger Woods.

Proof : None as yet.

8. Joslyn James - a pornstar actress often described as double-D brunette.

History with Tiger Woods : her friend described "Joslyn used to talk about all the freaky shit Tiger dug in bed".

Proof : None as yet.


9. A British TV host, no further details as yet

10. A 26-year old former cocktail waitress.

History with Tiger Woods : Met Tiger Woods at a nightclub in Orlando and claimed to have carried on a nearly two year affair with Woods before and during his marriage to Elin.

Proof : None as yet.
